Japan's business leaders react to Biden victory

Japanese business leaders are urging US President-Elect Joe Biden to restore international order.

The Chairman of the Japan Business Federation, or Keidanren, called in a statement for close cooperation between the new governments of Japan and the United States, and further improvement in bilateral relations.

Nakanishi Hiroaki expressed hope that Biden will also strengthen ties with other countries.

He said he wants Biden to show leadership in containing the coronavirus outbreak, reviving the global economy, and rebuilding international order.

The chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry also called on Biden to repair US relations with other major countries.

Mimura Akio said he understands that Biden will probably make his first priorities overcoming the pandemic and healing divisions among American people.

The chairman of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives, Sakurada Kengo, said he hopes the situation in the US will calm down and that the transition to the Biden administration goes smoothly.
