Apparent Gun Suicide By Teenage Boy At Home
A 15-year-old high school student died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in suburban Tokyo on Monday.
Police say he was found bleeding from the head in his house in Hachioji. He was taken to hospital but was confirmed dead.
According to police, his mother on the first floor heard a bang around 8 a.m. She reportedly rushed upstairs ... finding her son unconscious.
Police say what appears to resemble a US-made revolver was on the floor in the room. They are investigating how he got the firearm. Guns are strictly controlled in Japan.
The boy was taking a correspondence course with a private high school. He only had to be present three times a week.
The school closed after the entrance ceremony in April due to the coronavirus pandemic ... and reopened at the start of this month.
But the boy only went on the first day and had been absent since then.
