Ioc President To Visit Japan

IOC president to visit Japan

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach is expected to travel to Japan for the first time since the Tokyo Games were postponed due to the pandemic.

In March, Bach agreed with then Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo to postpone the games for one year, and later agreed to open the games on July 23rd, 2021.

The IOC has been discussing with the organizing committee, the Tokyo metropolitan government and the Japanese government measures to prevent virus infection and to cut costs.

Sources say arrangements are being made for Bach to visit Japan from November 15th where he will meet Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide and Tokyo Governor Koike Yuriko.

Bach is expected to stay in Tokyo until November 18th, and attend a meeting with the organizing committee.
