Japan to survey all arrivals from China

Japan's health ministry will ask all arrivals from China to fill out a survey inquiring about stays in the Chinese city of Wuhan and any health problems they may have.

Passengers will receive the questionnaire aboard flights and ships from China, whether or not they have symptoms suspected to be related to a new coronavirus.

Arrivals with symptoms will be asked to see doctors. Those without signs of infection will be monitored, if necessary, by telephone and other means.

The ministry took into account the fact that the virus has been spreading not just in Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, but across China.

The ministry says it will quickly decide on the contents of the questionnaire and start handing it out as soon as possible.
