Music fans enjoy drive-in festival near Tokyo

Music fans have had a rare opportunity to enjoy a live concert during the coronavirus outbreak at a drive-in festival in Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo.

Six groups performed at Sunday's festival in Nagara Town that was organized by an event-planning firm in Tokyo.

About 300 people in 120 vehicles showed up at the venue. They stayed inside their cars or on the right side of them to maintain social distancing, and listened to the music on a special frequency on their radios.

They could also place orders for food and drinks with their smartphones.

A woman from nearby Saitama Prefecture said she was 150 percent satisfied because there was a variety of music.

One of the organizers said he was moved by the festival because it was a real event. He said he wants to share the experience with many people to help revive Japan's music scene.
