Nearly 430,000 Households In Kyushu Without Power
Kyushu Electric Power Company says about 429,000 households in the Kyushu region were without power as of 3 a.m. on Monday.
In Kagoshima Prefecture, more than 22 percent, or 262,000 households, were without electricity.
The utility says work to restore the power supply will begin as soon as possible after the storm stops.
Officials are urging residents to stay away from severed power lines.
