Nurse In Osaka Told To Work After Testing Positive

Nurse in Osaka told to work after testing positive

Officials in the western Japanese city of Osaka say a hospital there instructed a nurse to continue to work despite testing positive for the coronavirus.

The officials learned of this after someone tweeted the allegation against Osaka's Namihaya Rehabilitation Hospital.

The officials say the nurse was confirmed infected on Monday. But the hospital reportedly told her to work an overnight shift as scheduled that day, despite knowing the test result.

The hospital has confirmed 126 coronavirus cases. Infected patients are being held in a separate ward. The hospital says the nurse took care of the infected.

Hospital officials say they instructed the nurse to continue working because they were unable to find a substitute.

City officials told the hospital to prevent a recurrence.
