Over 430,000 people ordered to escape Haishen

More than 430,000 people in southwestern Japan have been ordered to evacuate immediately as Typhoon Haishen threatens to hit the region.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, evacuation orders were issued to over 36,000 people in Goto City, Nagasaki Prefecture.

Such orders were also issued to 3,600 people in Kuma Town and Tsunagi Town in Kumamoto Prefecture, and to about 246,000 people in Kagoshima City, nearly 102,500 in Kanoya City, and about 49,000 in six other municipalities in Kagoshima Prefecture.

Advisories to evacuate promptly were issued to 2.67 million people from 1.25 households in seven prefectures.
