Police say he was found bleeding from the head Monday morning, on the second floor of his home in Hachioji City. He was taken to a hospital but was confirmed dead.

According to police, his mother who was on the first floor heard a bang around 8 a.m. She reportedly rushed upstairs where she found her son unconscious.

Authorities say what appears to be a revolver was on the floor in the room. No suicide note has yet been found.

The boy's home is in a residential area with schools nearby. Police are investigating how he got hold of the gun.
