Third flight with evacuees lands in Tokyo

A chartered plane carrying Japanese evacuees from the epicenter in China has arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo.

Japan's third chartered flight took off from Haneda Airport for Wuhan last night.

It landed in Tokyo around 10:20 a.m. after picking up 149 people.

Health ministry officials say medical staff on board will examine passengers before they disembark. They will then be sent to medical institutions to be tested for the virus.

A second flight that returned to Japan Thursday repatriated 210 people. Among them, 26 people with symptoms such as fever were hospitalized.

Government officials say about 300 people who are still in Wuhan have indicated they want to return home. They are making arrangements with the Chinese government to send a fourth flight next week.

Japan has confirmed 14 cases of infection in the country. The government is planning to bring forward the start of rules forcing the hospitalization of infected people to Saturday from February 7.
