Tokyo Reports 572 New Cases, Including 103 Elderly

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 572 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday.

The capital's daily tally is the second-largest, following 584 cases reported on Saturday.

It says 103 of the newly infected people in the capital are aged 65 or older, with that number exceeding 100 for the first time.

The total number of coronavirus infections confirmed in Tokyo now stands at 44,927.
