Continued caution urged against landslides

Weather officials in Japan are urging continued caution against landslides, after a seasonal rain front brought downpours to areas along the Pacific coast, especially Shizuoka Prefecture and the southern Kanto region.

Ajiro, in Shizuoka's Atami City, received more than 300 millimeters of rain in the 48 hours through early Saturday afternoon. That is more than the average rainfall for the entire month of July.
