An Mk4 Supra Is Getting A Toyota Century V12 Twin-Turbo'd To Over 1,000 HP

The 2JZ engine from the A80-generation Toyota Supra is one of the most famous performance engines ever produced and adored by enthusiasts around the world, particularly thanks to its strength and ability to cope with modifications.

In recent years, however, modified 2JZs with well in excess of 1,000 hp have become quite common in the tuning scene so a shop in Australia, dubbed WTF Auto, has embarked on an ambitious project to build a V12-powered Toyota Supra.

There are a small handful of V12 Supras on earth, none more famous than Top Secret’s gold V12 Supra complete with a 222.4 mph (357.6 km/h) top speed.

Like that Supra, the one being built by WTF Auto uses the only V12 ever built by Toyota, a 5.0-liter unit known as the 1GZ-FE sold exclusively in the Century built between 1997 and 2016. This naturally-aspirated unit was good for 276 hp under the Japanese gentlemen’s agreement when new, although it’s thought to have produced nearer to 308 hp.

The process of making this Century-powered Supra is only in its early stages but the engine will be equipped with twin turbos and the owner of WTF Auto wants to see it pump out in excess of 1,000 hp while still being comfortable and possible to drive on the street, rather than turning it into a car that can do nothing but power down the quarter-mile.

One interesting comment the owner makes is that he was able to sell the Supra’s original 2JZ for twice the amount he paid for the Century V12. With this in mind, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more Supras get V12 swaps.
