Morikawa announced via Twiiter, "At this time, I have given birth to a baby girl without any problems. Both myself and my baby are healthy. I am relieved that she was born healthily. I am very happy." She added, "It would make me happy if you would watch over me warmly. Please continue to support me."

Morikawa graduated from AKB48 in May of 2015. Since then, she has starred in various films, stage plays, CMs, and radio programs.

She announced her marriage and pregnancy last October. At that time, she also announced that she would be taking a break from her entertainment activities.
